Carlos Corberan, the manager of West Bromwich Albion, has stated that he and other important members of the team will begin working tomorrow to realize their objectives. They made this commitment on X. This social media post was made in response to the Baggies’ 3-1 loss to Southampton last night, which eliminated their hopes of making a Premier League comeback and eliminated them from the play-offs. The Saints were the favorites going into yesterday’s match after drawing at The Hawthorns in the first leg, which finished 0-0.
And they took full advantage of it, as the south coast side won 1-0 at St Mary’s thanks to a superb goal from Will Smallbone shortly after halftime. Adam Armstrong made it two before converting a penalty kick to earn his brace.
That ended the game, as the Baggies had run out of time and Cedric Kipre’s consolation goal in the 97th minute failed to spark a comeback. Albion, who played in the play-offs for the majority of the season and did well to finish in the top six, would be devastated by this loss given earlier rumors regarding their ownership position. It wouldn’t have been shocking if this surge had given West Brom the extra 10% they needed to travel to Wembley and win there, especially with new owner Shilen Patel in charge.
However, the Saints will play Leeds United in the English capital in order to qualify for the Premier League.
Carlos Corberan’s letter to West Brom fans following their loss to Southampton
Corberan would have been more motivated than anyone to get promoted because he had never won the play-offs with Huddersfield Town. He was unsuccessful in his endeavor, though, and it wouldn’t have come as a shock if he had taken his time before using social media once more. However, he made a post on X yesterday night saying, “We appreciate everyone who supported us this season. We are grateful to everyone who has helped us out at every game. “We appreciate each and every player who has donned our shirt. It would never have been conceivable to dream without you.
We appreciate every participant who has donned our shirt. It would never have been conceivable to dream without you. “From tomorrow, we will work to make our dreams come true.”
