Championship rivals reveal West Brom, Leicester City, Bristol City, and Hull City’s transfer target

A player without a club has been connected to West Brom and other Championship teams; however, they will have to pay a fee.

A player who was said to be heading to West Brom and another Championship team in the January transfer window has been released by Huddersfield Town. Brahima Diarra was reportedly wanted by both Bristol City and the Baggies, according to a report published at the end of January by the French publication Foot Mercato. Ten more Championship teams and an unidentified Ligue One club were added to the list of bidders.

Red Bull Salzburg, Portimonene, Vitoria de Guimares, Famalicao, and Leicester City were among the other teams interested, according to a report published in April by the Belgian daily Sudinfo.

However, Huddersfield Town provided the most recent information last week when they revealed their retained list. After being relegated from the Championship, Huddersfield decided to let go of five players who had played for the first team.

Jordan Rhodes, Yuta Nakayama, Connor Mahoney, Aaron Rowe, and Diarra were also informed that their contracts at John Smith’s Stadium would not be extended. Michael Duff, a former manager of Swansea City, Barnsley, and Cheltenham Town, was just hired to the Terriers, and he will have the opportunity to put together his own team. Huddersfield did mention in the release of their retained list that even though Diarra left on a free transfer, the team will get paid for contributing to his growth. In the summer of 2019, Diarra moved from AC Boulogne-Billancourt to Huddersfield as a teenager.

This season, the 20-year-old participated in 23 games across all competitions, including 21 in the Championship. This season, the five-time Mali under-23 international started five games in the league and recorded two assists while mostly serving as a substitute. After making his club debut on February 24 as a three-minute replacement in a victory over Watford, Diarra did not make an appearance in any of the matchday squads for Huddersfield’s remaining six games.
