Chaos at Ibrox to persist as Rangers’ logistical problems at Murrayfield are now being discussed

Rangers will be moving rapidly, according to Dan Bardell, to minimize any logistical complications arising from the Ibrox construction challenges. Due to problems at Ibrox, the Gers will have to play their first home games of the 24/25 season in a temporary venue [Chris Jack].

Although there was anticipation that the SPFL would let home games to be moved [Daily Record], work on the Copland Road Stand has been delayed, and it doesn’t appear that this will be the case. Journalist Bardell from Sky Sports and talkSPORT has evaluated the Rangers’ alternatives and predicts that the management would want a speedy resolution for budgetary reasons. Bardell remarked exclusively to Ibrox News, “It is far from ideal.” Since Parkhead is their only viable alternative, they can’t just move across the street to another stadium—that would be totally unacceptable.

Rangers will require a large stadium given their size and the amount of supporters and season ticket holders. Although it’s not exactly close, Murrayfield is most likely the nearest large park. While it is not unusual, I believe the Rangers would have like to avoid this scenario as it would mean paying for season ticket holders who would otherwise only need to travel to Ibrox and covering their travel expenses.

They will want to avoid as many logistics as possible and take care of them right away to save money.

Rangers to play home matches away from Ibrox

It is always a risk to do construction work so close to the beginning of a season and the Light Blues have now been burned by that risk. The renovations are already underway and will need to be completed before matches can return to Ibrox as normal next season.

It appears unlikely that games will be played at home to start the season as a result, which could lead to issues for everyone concerned. With the capacity of Murrayfield Rugby Stadium and the possibility of Champions League qualification, a move seems to be the better option.

The distance to travel for all season ticket holders and general fans impacted by this is significantly greater than an average journey. It appears that a move away from Ibrox will be required, so the club administration will need to find a workable solution for everyone.
