Chelsea are close to securing deal for Newcastle united forward.

According to reports, Chelsea aims to sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak this summer and has already held talks to that effect.

Last season, Isak netted 21 Premier League goals for Newcastle, who narrowly missed out on a return to European competition, following their group stage exit in the Champions League, their first in 20 years.

The 24-year-old striker’s impressive goal tally came after a promising but injury-ridden first season at St James’ Park, where he made only 22 Premier League appearances and five more across other competitions.

Isak’s value is currently very high, and he is considered one of the world’s best strikers. The Swedish international has previously been linked with high-profile moves to Arsenal and Barcelona.

Mail Sport reports that Chelsea and Newcastle have had initial discussions regarding a possible summer transfer, with Chelsea showing interest in finalizing terms.

It is believed that Chelsea would need to exceed their club-record £115 million fee, paid for defensive midfielder Moises Caicedo last summer, to secure Isak, resulting in a significant profit on the £63 million Newcastle paid Real Sociedad for him in August 2022.

Newcastle would prefer to retain Isak and have even suggested new contract talks. However, the club has acknowledged that every player has a price, especially with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules impacting spending decisions.

Chelsea’s intent to add a top-tier center forward and sign some of the world’s best young talents is well known. Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has been their primary target for nearly 18 months, but with that deal proving difficult, other names have emerged: Benjamin Sesko, Jhon Duran, Samu Omorodion, Dominic Solanke, and Jonathan David have all been linked recently.

Additionally, a deal for young Barcelona striker Marc Guiu is nearing completion, adding the 18-year-old to the growing list of acquisitions in the Todd Boehly/BlueCo era.

Under Enzo Maresca, Chelsea is expected to undergo a stylistic shift from the unsuccessful Mauricio Pochettino era, with several player departures anticipated as the club aims to reestablish itself among the Premier League’s elite. Homegrown talents Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah are potential departures this summer, and their sales could significantly impact Chelsea’s ability to meet PSR regulations.
