Chelsea are desperate to sign Michael Olise this summer and the move is not dependent on who becomes the club’s new manager as they look to add more strings to their attacking bow.

Olise scored 10 goals and assisted six in the 19 games he played for the club this season. Last season he was the only player outside the top half of the league table to assist 10 goals as Palace fought relegation briefly to finish 12th under Roy Hodgson.

The French star came through the ranks at the Chelsea academy but it was Reading where he cut his teeth in the Championship before moving to Palace three seasons ago. Since then, he’s continued to improve season after season and now caught the attention of both Manchester United and Chelsea.

According to a report in The Mirror, Chelsea can sign him for £60million with the forward who normally plays on the right-hand side of attack likely to leave Selhurst Park this summer. Olise can also play as a supporting striker and has the ability to win games on his own.

Chelsea are looking to name a new manager next week after they decided to part ways with Mauricio Pochettino. The former Spurs and PSG manager led the Blues to an impressive sixth-place finish but decided to walk away after failing to agree on the structure that is in place at the club.

Sources say the 52-year-old Argentinian wanted to have a say on the transfer policies and also wanted a new contract to reflect the long-term project the owners have preached since they took over the club in May 2022. 

Brentford’s Thomas Frank, Kieran McKenna who led Ipswich back to the Premier League for the first time in 28 years and Leicester’s Enzo Maresca are leading candidates even though there is a mystery fourth choice.
