Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has been shortlisted for the Championship manager of the year award after spearheading a remarkable turnaround in their fortunes
The Championship manager of the season will be announced at the English Football League awards in one week. Daniel Farke, the manager of Leeds United, is vying for the award with Kieran McKenna of Ipswich Town and Liam Rosenior of Hull City.
Norwich City defeated the Tractor Boys 1-0 at Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon, dashigning their hopes of finishing in the top two at the expense of the Whites. The outcome was detrimental to Town, as they aim for consecutive promotions.
Commentator Chris Sutton stated on Sky Sports: “From Ipswich’s point of view, it’s a sore one.” Although Norwich is a derby, the real story here is what comes next and how they react.
“When McKenna essentially mentioned in the interview that the team appeared worn out, I was a little taken aback. The players and the team should get up for it as it was a derby.
“They’ve had an outstanding season. Regardless of the full tale of rising from League One, he’s my manager of the season. He has excelled beyond measure. Now is the time to focus on completing it, and we are in an extremely competitive race.”
Sutton, who is having fun in the promotion chase, said: “I believe that everyone was expecting Leicester to go automatic. Leeds will always be at the top because they have been an incredible story.
“The dark horses have been the Ipswich. They had Norwich, and they missed the opportunity. Let’s move on to the next one.”
