Club agree deal with Southampton in ‘Transfer initiated by Chelsea’

Strasbourg have reached a full agreement with Southampton for the transfer of attacker Sekou Mara, with Chelsea reportedly playing a role in initiating the move.

Southampton has been anticipated to part ways with Mara, particularly following the addition of another forward, Cameron Archer.

Mara has attracted interest from French clubs, and Strasbourg is now at the forefront, with the transfer progressing significantly.

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Strasbourg and Southampton have reached a full agreement for the transfer of Sekou Mara. Strasbourg will pay €12 million for the attacker, and now it’s up to Mara to finalize personal terms.

It’s reported that Chelsea, who have ownership links with Strasbourg, initiated the transfer.

If Mara can quickly settle on the terms, the transfer might be wrapped up by the end of the week.

Strasbourg drew 1-1 in their Ligue 1 opener against Montpellier over the weekend.
