Coach Navua goes above and beyond

Saiyad Ali, the football coach for Oceania Fiberglass Navua, believes his squad has outperformed expectations in the Digicel Pacific Fiji FACT in Labasa this year. After two victories over Extra Rewa and Nasinu and a goalless draw with the hosts Extra Supermarket Labasa, Navua were the first team to lock up a semifinal spot. He claims that although they had a goal in mind, they ended up doing more. “I believe that the players and I communicated very clearly that our goal was to advance to the semifinals, which we have now done. We demonstrated that mindset and attitude of constantly playing to win even in the most recent game.

He claims that in the three games played over the weekend, they kept a clean sheet and didn’t give up any goals. On Saturday at 4.30 p.m., Navua will play 4R Electrical Ba in the second semi-final. At 2:00 pm, Labasa takes on Flick Hygiene Lautoka in the opening semifinal.

The final of the competition will be held on Sunday at 1pm.
