Collum is shocked when the SFA announces the Glasgow Derby referee and VAR.

Willie Collum will referee Saturday’s Glasgow Derby- the first time that he has been in charge of the fixture in two years.

This season, Don Robertson, Nick Walsh, and John Beaton have officiated the match; nevertheless, Scotland’s most seasoned official will call the game on Saturday, which will significantly impact the SPFL Premiership title conclusion.

Collum was assigned to VAR for the match in December. Following the game, Ibrox repeatedly criticized Collum, to the point where he demanded that he not play in any more Phil Clement games.

January 3rd, according to The Sun:

RANGERS have demanded that Willie Collum not be allowed to play in any more Gers games by the SFA.

The Ibrox club met with the Hampden chiefs and then presented “a number of specific requests.”
One of them was a request that Collum not be allowed to play in any Rangers games going forward.

According to the Gers, the SFA acknowledged that Collum made a mistake by not penalizing Alistair Johnston for a handball during the Ibrox team’s 2-1 loss at Celtic Park on December 30.

SunSport understands that the Hampden administration vehemently disputes Gers’ description of the meeting with referee chief Crawford Allan, but the SFA has declined to comment.

Since then, the official from Lanarkshire has officiated just one Scottish Cup match at Ibrox—the victory over Ayr United. However, he served as the fourth official for last month’s 3–3 draw at Ibrox.
For the game on Saturday, Steven McLean will be using VAR, while Robertson will serve as the fourth official. On May 15, Robertson will officiate Celtic’s away game against Kilmarnock.
