Confirm: Andre Breitenreiter of Huddersfield Town talks about his future and potential conversations with owner Kevin Nagle.

Following his negotiations regarding his future with Huddersfield Town owner Kevin Nagle following the club’s relegation from the Championship, ANDRE BREITENREITER has admitted he has a decision to make.

The Suffolk team secured their promotion to the Premier League at the cost of Leeds United, who will participate in the play-offs, on Saturday after losing 2-0 to Suffolk Town.

In light of several players’ attitude that contributed to Town’s appalling 2023–24 relegation to League One, Breitenreiter has been extremely critical of them and stated that the team’s playing side requires a thorough “reset” this summer.

It is unclear if the German, who signed a two-and-a-half year contract in mid-February, will stay in the position.

Nagle, speaking after the weekend loss, said that he’d had a ‘great meeting’ with the 50-year-old and that talks will continue this week, hinting that he would like him to stay.

Breitenreiter said: “I don’t want to speak too much about our conversations. You can be sure that we have conversations and once again, maybe it’s not the right time to tell these things.

“I’m normally used to (managing) top-flight football and I decided to sign at Huddersfield because of the vision of the club. I’m not normally a coach for a third-league team.

“Yes, I’m maybe responsible for some percent, but not responsible for many things we spoke about last week and I was also surprised about the things I experienced when I signed.

“But now that it’s the past, you have to move forward and find the appropriate things to accomplish the goal because, as much as I admire Huddersfield’s supporters, they are the past.

“I’ve never seen my person handled with such dignity. You usually lose all friends when you’re demoted, but I think they genuinely value my candour and open communication approach, as well as my track record of success with other teams, and they believe.

“So, even though I would never ordinarily enter the third league, there is another reason I’m considering it.

But before I can make the appropriate choice, I need some time, some conversations, and some information. However, this will take some time.

Regarding the match, Breitenreiter stated that although his team did not have much of an impact in the first half, they did generate opportunities in the second.

Breitenreiter continued, “Ipswich is very close to promotion, so it’s not an easy game there.” “And the vibe, everyone seems to be celebrating the promotion, and while winning isn’t always easy, I do occasionally like some of these games.

“We did play bold and we did generate our opportunities in the second half, but it’s too late. Sometimes it’s possible to create chances when the opposition plays daring and uses the space.

We played solid compact defence, and Ipswich produced opportunities when we gave up the ball easily.

The first goal was far too simple. Jack Rudoni dropped the ball easily, and there was nothing to push back.

“We played a little bit more bravely in the second half and created some chances with Josh Koroma twice, including a header from Bojan Radulovic), but Ipswich Town deserved to win 2-0, and we’d like to congratulate them on an incredible season.”
