Coventry City transfer news from CoventryLive as Mark Robins welcomes Sweden international goalkeeper Oliver Dovin to the club
Coventry City have finalized the signing of Swedish international goalkeeper Oliver Dovin. The 22-year-old has made the move from Hammarby for an undisclosed fee, reported to be nearly £1.6 million upfront, marking one of the highest fees ever paid for a Swedish top-flight goalkeeper. Dovin has inked a four-year contract with Coventry City, pending FA and international clearance.
Manager Mark Robins expressed his satisfaction with the signing, mentioning that the club had been monitoring Dovin’s progress for some time. Robins highlighted Dovin’s qualities as a goalkeeper, noting his strong physical presence, shot-stopping ability, and proficiency in distributing the ball. Dovin is set to join the squad upon their return from Spain, potentially making his debut in a non-competitive match against Stevenage on Tuesday.
“We’re very pleased to welcome Oliver to Coventry City,” said Robins, emphasizing Dovin’s potential to enhance the team’s goalkeeping options and overall quality.

Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, Oliver Dovin is expected to inherit the No. 1 shirt at Coventry City, which was previously worn by Simon Moore before his departure to Sunderland on a free transfer this summer. Currently, the club’s other goalkeepers, Ben Wilson and Brad Collins, are wearing numbers 13 and 40 respectively. Both Wilson and Collins kept clean sheets in a recent friendly against Spanish side Getafe CF, each playing 45 minutes in a goalless draw.
Dovin, known for his strong shot-stopping abilities, rose through the ranks at Hammarby and made his senior debut in December 2020. He has accumulated 84 appearances for the Swedish top-flight club, registering 28 clean sheets. His achievements include winning the Swedish domestic cup in 2021 and participating in the 2021/22 UEFA Conference League Play-Offs.
Established as the first-choice goalkeeper in 2022, Dovin swiftly earned his maiden senior international cap after representing Sweden at various youth levels. He debuted for the national team in January 2023 against Iceland and added another appearance this year versus Estonia.
