Coventry City transfer news from CoventryLive as Matty Godden completes his move to League One Charlton Athletic
The 32-year-old signed a two-year contract with The Valley today, with a third-year option after earlier this week, after passing his physical and agreeing to personal terms with the League One Addicks. In 2019, the Sky Blues acquired the player from Peterborough United for approximately £750,000.
He moves for a “undisclosed” price, which is thought to be a fairly low sum that might increase to a maximum of £400,000 depending on the customary add-ons, such as promotion and appearances.
“The Sky Blues would like to place on record its thanks and appreciation to Matty for his service to the club since joining in 2019 from Peterborough United,” a statement from City confirmed the transfer. Everyone at Coventry City wishes Matty the best of luck in the future because he has been a model professional both on and off the field.
Godden, who scored 50 goals in 156 games for Coventry City, is ranked 21st among the club’s all-time leading scorers. Godden scored 14 goals in 26 games after signing in August 2019 and helped lead the Sky Blues to the League One championship in 2019–20.
