Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has shed light on his decision to reject a loan move to Leeds United during the summer transfer window. Instead, the 21-year-old winger chose to join Sheffield United on loan, despite interest from QPR as well.
Rak-Sakyi has already made four appearances for the Blades, who are aiming for a playoff push in the Championship under Chris Wilder after their relegation from the Premier League. Although Leeds, favorites for automatic promotion, could have offered him a shot at a more competitive promotion battle following the departures of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter, Rak-Sakyi opted for Sheffield United.
Explaining his decision, Rak-Sakyi said: “My agent told me about Leeds’ interest, and I knew they were a big club. But after speaking with the manager here, I was impressed by his vision and plans for me, which convinced me to join Sheffield. I wanted to go to a club with ambition because I’m ambitious myself, and I think this was the right move.”
Rak-Sakyi, who scored 15 goals in 43 league appearances for Charlton Athletic last season, is seen as a rising star, and there is already excitement about his future at Crystal Palace. His decision to join a club with promotion ambitions aligns with his own career goals, despite the challenge of moving away from his native London.
