As he gets ready to play his old team, Nottingham Forest, on Friday, Leicester manager Steve Cooper is adamant about avoiding offending either group of fans.

After leading Forest to the Premier League for the first time in 23 years and then keeping them afloat against all odds, Cooper was fired from the team in December.

The Welshman was strongly ingrained in the club’s culture and had a unique bond with the supporters, who twice prevented him from being fired before owner Evangelos Marinakis finally took the fatal shot.

He did not, however, discuss his experience at the City Ground prior to the game or if he would thank the Forest supporters.
He declared, “I’ll be concentrating on the task at hand.”
“In my opinion, these jobs take up so much of your time that you are unable to think about anything else.”
You don’t have time for your thoughts to stray. Even before I managed at Swansea City, I discovered that if it does, you get your retribution.
That’s how I’m thinking. And I will not discuss anything else.
“I’ve always admired the jobs I’ve held and been in. I try to be humble and respectful, live in the present, and hope that this will help me get by and sleep at night.
“I won’t treat you disrespectfully.”
