Coventry City head back to Wembley for the fourth time of Mark Robins’ second reign this weekend, when they take on Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final
The iconic striped FA Cup-winning shirt worn by Coventry City is on sale for club supporters in-store ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup semifinal match at Wembley between the club and Manchester United. The Sky Blues make their way back to the football stadium, where they have won twice and been to three times in the previous seven years under Mark Robins.
Going back to 1987, however, was the last time the Sky Blues won some significant hardware at the old Wembley. This culminated a run to the final that, coincidentally, included defeating Man United at Old Trafford in the fourth round owing to a goal by Keith Houchen. When they defeated Tottenham Hotspur in the championship game at Wembley, that legendary team—forever ingrained in City legend—wore a classy uniform with white and blue stripes.
Supporters may now purchase that shirt in advance of Sunday’s game at Wembley, the club’s most recent trip there. It’s not available online, but you may buy it starting at 9:30 on Tuesday, April 16 while supplies last at the club’s CBS Arena store or club shop at the West Orchards Shopping Center.
Prior to the Coventry City FA Cup semi-final, an update
According to the description, the kit is a “genuine, authentic replica” of the top Cyrille Regis and company wore during their 3-2 victory over Spurs. On the chest, the sponsor, Granada Bingo, is displayed alongside the club’s insignia from that era and the ‘FA Cup Final – Wembley 1987’ emblem.
As of Monday, City has sold about 34,000 tickets for the semi-final. If you plan to go, please purchase your ticket(s) if you haven’t already. Only the supplemental allocation of 2,000 remains available after the initial 34,000 allocation was quickly taken up.
