noCrystal Palace have initiated contact to sign one of Europe’s most promising talents, as Michael Olise is set to join Bayern Munich. With the German giants activating the France U21 international’s £55 million release clause, Dougie Freedman now has additional funds to invest in the transfer market. Discussions have begun to use part of this fee on acquiring a genuine wonderkid.
Crystal Palace are in talks to sign Club Brugge’s Antonio Nusa, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri. Fabrizio Romano reported on Monday that the Norway international is being considered as a direct replacement for Michael Olise, who is preparing to join Bayern Munich.
Now, Tavolieri has updated the story, stating that Club Brugge has informed Crystal Palace they want €30 million (£25 million) for Nusa this summer. Additionally, Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen is also interested in signing the 19-year-old, which could be a challenge for the Eagles given the German side’s status as a UEFA Champions League team and reigning Bundesliga champions.
Nusa scored four goals and provided four assists in 46 appearances across all competitions last season.
As a potential replacement for Michael Olise, Nusa has been compared to Erling Haaland. Norway is currently experiencing a golden period of talent production, with players like Haaland, Martin Odegaard, Oscar Bobb, and Nusa emerging. The Athletic has even compared Nusa to Haaland, suggesting that the prolific Manchester City No. 9 is “no longer the brightest young thing” in Norway as the Club Brugge prodigy begins to rise.
The same story mentions that Nusa has been dubbed the “Norwegian Neymar” in his homeland.
Clearly, the Langhus-born forward is highly regarded, and signing him would be a significant achievement for Crystal Palace. It would signal a real coup if Dougie Freedman can lure him to Selhurst Park this summer.
