David Edgar has blasted Philippe Clement for making changes too late in the Rangers defeat against Ross County on Sunday (14 April).
The Heart and Hand Podcast host tweeted on Sunday that it was “pathetic” from the Gers boss as he claimed the Belgian needs to “take responsibility” for the 3-2 defeat.
The Light Blues went in 1-0 ahead at half-time, but a second-half comeback from County ensured they handed a hammer blow to Clement’s side’s chances of winning the title in Dingwall.
“Pathetic again,” said Edgar. “Manager needs to take responsibility here, changes too late.”
Rangers boss Philippe Clement got it wrong against Ross County
It perhaps was a mistake for Clement to not make changes at half-time as it was a pretty disappointing first half from Rangers despite them going in with the lead.
The Gers manager was clearly unhappy with their performance as they were back out on the pitch early, suggesting he had some choice words with them at the break.
Some will suggest the Belgian got his team selection wrong in the first place, having made four changes to the side that drew 3-3 with Celtic.
While Clement has been heavily praised for getting the Light Blues back into the title race, it would now be a disappointment if they don’t lift the Scottish Premiership trophy after they were in control of proceedings just a few weeks ago.
It’s certainly not over as they can still come out on top if they win their remaining games this season, but that task has become an awful lot more difficult following this damaging defeat.
