Deal Agreed: Who to be named new Preston manager was announced……..

Preston North End is set to appoint former Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom as their new manager within the next 24 hours, according to sources at Football Insider.

Heckingbottom has reached an agreement with the club’s leadership at Deepdale, and an official announcement is expected soon.

The ex-manager of Sheffield United and Leeds will take over at the Championship club following the departure of Ryan Lowe after the opening weekend.

Lowe left Preston on August 12, shortly after their 2-0 home defeat to Sheffield United.

Interim manager Mike Marsh also exited after just two games in charge, following a 3-0 loss to Swansea on Saturday, August 17.

Heckingbottom’s last position was with Sheffield United, but he was dismissed in December 2023 when the club was at the bottom of the Premier League. However, he previously led the Yorkshire club to promotion from the Championship in the 2022-23 season, finishing as runners-up.

Preston sit 23rd in the Championship table after two games of the new season and have a goal difference of minus five.
