Everton transfer news as the Blues agree a deal to sign Napoli attacker Jesper Lindstrom on loan
Everton are reportedly closing in on signing Jesper Lindstrom on loan from Napoli for the 2024/25 season. The deal, according to Sky Sports, includes a minimal loan fee of less than £3 million and an option to buy for £18.5 million. The Danish international is expected to travel to Merseyside for a medical soon.
Lindstrom, who can play as a No.10 or on either wing, would be Everton’s third summer signing after Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Iroegbunam. The club’s wide options were reduced following the sale of Lewis Dobbin and the end of Arnaut Danjuma’s loan. Jack Harrison has been brought in to bolster the ranks, but Dwight McNeil and Ashley Young are currently the only other senior players available in these positions.
Everton had previously attempted to sign Newcastle’s Yankuba Minteh and Hull City’s Jaden Philogene, but both players chose to move elsewhere. Wilfried Gnonto remains a player of interest.
Lindstrom, 24, joined Napoli from Frankfurt last year but failed to make a significant impact, with no goals or assists in 29 appearances. He previously performed well in Germany and has been capped 16 times by Denmark. However, he has recently fallen out of favor and was not selected for Denmark’s friendlies in 2024 or the European Championship earlier this summer.
The former Brondby academy player has four years left on his current deal at Napoli and has been training under Antonio Conte, even participating in a friendly last week. Everton’s next matches are against Salford City, Coventry, Preston, and Roma.
