DISCUSSION: WILL GOALKEEPER JOSH RENDER STAYS FOR 2024/25?

Russ Wilcox, the manager, was also happy to have Trinity’s custodian signed for the long term following a season in which eight different players donned the gloves.”I’m happy to announce that Josh Render, our custodian, has committed to a contract for the next campaign. After spending an entire season playing in Australia, he first came to train with us. I was quite struck by his will to succeed. His application and attitude were excellent. After Dylan Wharton suffered a blow to the head against Hyde United, he was given the opportunity to play. Three days later, he made his complete debut away against Matlock Town. He was excellent in my opinion; he distributed the ball well, made a crucial save at 1.0, and maintained a clean sheet. Josh, welcome to the full-time team.”

Along with Render, Dylan Wharton, a promising player from Sheffield United, began the previous season before Callum Yam made an appearance while on loan from the Blades. Trinity then travelled across Sheffield to Wednesday in order to hire Luke Jackson. Jackson sustained a strange injury at Marske that prevented him from playing the entire season. Lewis Butroid, an outfielder, entered the gaGETme to finish it out, but it was later removed from the record books. Prior to Wharton’s return on New Year’s Day, U21 custodian Ethan Cowan made a few outings in County Cup matches, while Ben Bottomley from Doncaster Rovers was the next player to join on loan.

Following Wharton’s concussion, Wilcox had Dave Robson loaned out to them from Hull City for a month, and the two of them finished the season together.

Josh comes to Gainsborough Trinity with a warm welcome, having initially gone unnoticed on his arrival. We look forward to working with him again this season. Cheers to a productive stay at DN21!
