Conor McGrandles, a midfield player, has been sold by Charlton Athletic to League One rival Lincoln City in preparation for the forthcoming third-tier season.

With Nathan Jones in charge of the team’s first transfer window as manager, the Addicks are expected to undergo significant upheaval this summer. Having recently been involved in a relegation battle, Charlton Athletic hopes to contend at the other end of the table next season.

Will Mannion was announced this week, and the Welshman has alluded to arrivals at The Valley in the upcoming weeks. However, there are also anticipated to be some outgoings. It is now official that McGrandles is among the guys who will be moving on.

The 28-year-old only made 19 appearances for the London club during his 2022 transfer from Lincoln City. During the second half of the 2023–24 season, he was loaned to the Imps, although he only made five appearances before suffering an ankle injury in March that ended his season.

Nevertheless, Michael Skubala paid an undisclosed amount for the midfielder’s services after he made an appearance during the Lincoln City season. “Conor McGrandles has rejoined Lincoln City on a permanent deal,” the Charlton club announced in a statement. After leaving the Imps in June 2022, the midfielder played 19 games in all competitions and netted two goals for Charlton.

“McGrandles enjoyed a brief stint with Cambridge United in the second half of the 2022–2023 season and spent the latter half of the 2023–2024 campaign on loan at Lincoln.” Conor has the greatest wishes for the future from everyone at the club.”

Speaking to Lincoln City upon the deal’s confirmation, McGrandles expressed gratitude for the team’s “belief” in him throughout his injury and expressed his excitement about rejoining his previous team. The athlete exclaimed, “It feels great to be back.” I wanted to do this when the club expressed interest in me because I had a great time while I was on loan the previous season.

When I was hurt, a lot of faith was placed in me. The club showed its concern for people by offering to handle all of my rehabilitation.

“I sincerely appreciate how the fans embraced me upon my return. I’m definitely looking forward to spending the entire season here because I know how great the atmosphere is.”
