Paul Caddis’ Message to the Fans
Hello everyone,
As much as my guys and I are excited to get football back at Edgar Street, I hope everyone else is too. This time of year, preparations for the upcoming season truly are year-round, and I’m delighted to share my latest activities since the last update.
Pre-Season Timetable
Our Pre-Season schedule is complete, and the club will shortly reveal the fixtures.
There are three confirmed games—three at home and three away.
Enough room for a possible Tuesday night away match, if necessary.
Player Gatherings
I’ll keep you informed. Over the past few weeks, I’ve spent a number of days meeting prospective new players, existing players, and players who have chosen to leave the club.
Possible New Entrants
We’ve signed a player, whose identity cannot currently be announced until his present contract expires, and I’m incredibly happy with him as a player as well as a person and character.
I have met with a great deal of players in the Birmingham region that we have identified as possible additions to the team.
A few of those conversations have been fruitful. We have made offers to a few. Some have been turned down by other clubs for financial benefit, and I have turned away from others because I didn’t think they had the kind of character or attitude I wanted to bring to our group.
I will continue and do continue to examine hours of tape and reference check every player before signing them and of course meeting them in person also gives me a measure of the personality.
Players Disappearing
For our football team, NATHAN CAMERON has been a great and excellent human being. I kindly request that he receive the gratitude he is due from all of us. We wish Nathan Cameron and his family the very best in life. Nathan is an excellent captain and leader of soldiers.
CURTIS POND was a fantastic addition to our team; he came from step 4 Chasetown. a major character in the locker room who was instrumental in bringing the players’ supporters together. According to “Pondy,” his job schedule prevents him from committing, therefore he’s going to sign with a club closer to home, where he can also get paid more, something we can’t match. We wish Pondy all the best, but that’s just the way the world is. A truly top-notch guy and a great goaltender.
TOPE OBADEYI has been very courteous, honest, and open in expressing how much he has enjoyed his time at the club and how eager he is to continue, but that he is currently considering his alternatives.
Again, I have the utmost regard for Oliver Southern, but he is unable to commit to the club on the circumstances that have been presented to him. Ollie never failed the team, and we want the best for him in the future.
YUSIFU CEESAY once again expressed how much he has enjoyed working with me and the staff, as well as how connected and loved he has felt from all of you, but he is eager to pursue new chances. Ceesay wants to play football overseas, and I hope his dreams come true and he gets the opportunity he deserves.
After a fruitful loan at Redditch United, JORDAN CRANSTON will be leaving the club. We wish “Cranno” and his family the best of luck going forward.
We hope to hear more about Mark Derricott and Lassana Mendes soon. They are presently in negotiations. We are currently in discussions with both Mark and Lass to determine the best course of action going ahead, since Mark had a fantastic loan period and Lass had a strong debut season with us.
We appreciate all of the players who are leaving us for their hard work this season and we hope they have the best possible future. Although not everyone is driven by money, I believe it’s reasonable for football players to look for the greatest deals for both themselves and their families, as football is a relatively short-lived sport. We know that no one can match your support, therefore even though it’s painful to lose out on quality players who may improve us, we accept and understand our current financial situation. We won’t win financial wars.
This brings me well to my next point, which is the successful Squad Builder and Membership Scheme efforts, which have an immediate effect on the playing budget. I personally appreciate the Founding Shareholders for their offer, which demonstrates their unwavering loyalty and commitment to the football club. Season ticket sales are something we need to consistently promote for a variety of reasons, even though they have no bearing on the playing budget. More selfishly, it can mean the difference between one and three points and adds a terrific mood to Edgar Street. If we as a team are to advance together and strive for the level of competition we all aspire to, it is imperative that we maximise revenue generation for the football team. To accomplish the best for the club, we have the correct chairman and board of directors in place.
I appreciate all of your support, and I will always remember my first year in management. The previous campaign was excellent and marked the football team’s comeback. It is now finished. It’s finished. As a team and a community, let’s go forward and show everyone how much I still adore you by being the best supporters in the league and beyond. Let’s make noise and be positive. The Hereford FC bubble needs to be as strong and impenetrable as any other in the nation. The football team’s mindset has changed, and even though we haven’t there yet, we must press on. I refuse to give up and will keep choosing the necessary fights to fight for the only goal of defending the team I have the honour to represent on the sidelines.
I’ll see you all shortly. Have fun throughout the break. Take care of your families and yourself, and prepare for another season of family time that will require a lot of HARD WORK, CHARACTER, and DESIRE.
