Ex Millwall and Crystal Palace player lands League Two managerial role: View

Former Millwall winger lands managerial job in League Two - Southwark NewsLeague Two team Swindon Town has appointed former Crystal Palace and Millwall winger Mark Kennedy as their new head coach.

After departing Lincoln in October 2023, Kennedy has not been employed. During his 57 league games as the League One team’s manager, he won 18 of them.

The 48-year-old began his senior career at Millwall when he was 16 years old. He left in March 1995 to sign a contract with Liverpool for an initial payment of £1.5 million, which at the time was a British record for a juvenile player.

Prior to joining Wolves in 2001, he had stints with Wimbledon and QPR. During his five years there, he made over 175 appearances.

Under Peter Taylor, Kennedy joined Palace in 2006 and played in 48 games over two seasons, recording one goal and eleven assists.

The Ireland international also had stints at Manchester City and Ipswich.

Kennedy stated, “First of all, I’m really excited to be here at Swindon Town, and I’m very much looking forward to the project that is in place here,” in an interview with the city’s official website.

“With the exciting plans we have here at this sleeping giant of a football club, I also think it’s crucial that we look forward and plan for the future. If we’re all pulling in the same direction, I’m confident we can all achieve this.”

“The relationship we create between the team and the fan base is another important component that I believe is essential to our success together; that’s something I’m committed to and I hope I can continue to grow and make stronger while I’m here.”
