fresh signee Alan Browne is hoping that his background would enable Sunderland to make it to the Premier League. The 29-year-old, who has spent the last ten years at Preston North End, is already adjusting to life at the club and plans to relocate his family to the northeast.
“It’s a worthwhile project,” he remarked after joining the Black Cats. They have a lot of young guys, so I can kind of provide something extra there. Although they are young, they have a lot of experience themselves, in my opinion. And clearly making a run at the playoffs a few years back. The team has a lot of quality, and the club is one of the biggest in England, which is evident by its size. That truly stood out to me as well.
“I met the sporting director first, he was telling me about the values of the club, the history of the club, and what they are ultimately trying to achieve and why they are bringing me here,” he said, indicating that he knew it was the right decision from the beginning.
It goes without saying that I wanted to take part in that. After that, I had a conversation with Regis Le Bris, the manager. He told me about his preferences for playing and approaching games, including different styles and tactics. We discussed all of that, and I think that he wants to play the way he wants to. I’m ecstatic.
“I stayed at Preston because, fortunately, I’ve had a lot of good dressing rooms over the years,” he continued. It’s an excellent club.
It goes without saying that I learned a lot, matured as a player, and improved my game management along the road. I’ve learned over the years that this is a really challenging league. Although the task at hand is difficult, I believe the team and this club can succeed. Browne has never played in the Premier League but has experienced the excitement of representing his own Ireland against some of the world’s top players. Given his advanced age and the fact that, in the words of the Republic, “I haven’t set the world ablaze,” he hopes that will continue.
What can Sunderland fans expect to see from him, what can he bring?
