Exciting improvements lined up for Chester FC off the pitch

Chester FC is focusing on off-field improvements, with plans for a new fanzone outside the stadium and the installation of a digital scoreboard in time for the next home match.

An update posted on September 23 revealed that architect Tom Partridge, from Common Practice, has developed ideas for a future fanzone at the Deva Stadium. The former Kingsway High School student described the proposed “flexible, exciting Fan Zone” as a way to enhance the matchday experience and provide opportunities for community events, contributing to the club’s revenue.

Although still in the early stages, concept designs have been shared on the club’s website. They illustrate a potential fan zone located behind one of the stands, featuring food and drink stalls, a club merchandise area, seating, restrooms, and a stage for live performances. Future phases of the plan could also include adding shelter to the area.

A more ambitious vision for the fan zone includes the possibility of expanding it to accommodate larger music performances, should Chester FC find it feasible to host such events. One example given in the design is Deva Fest, currently held at Cholmondeley Castle, which is set to continue there in 2025.

Tom Partridge explained that the project is still in the feasibility and fact-finding stage. He emphasized that public consultation and fundraising will be crucial as the development progresses. Ensuring public safety at the stadium is the top priority, and the next step involves ensuring the stadium complies with relevant legislation in collaboration with authorities.

In the meantime, Chester FC is excited to announce the installation of a new digital scoreboard, which will be ready for the upcoming home game against Farsley Celtic in the National League North on Saturday, October 5.

The scoreboard, located in the southwest corner of the stadium, has been funded at no cost to the club, thanks to a generous donation from a long-time supporter, with additional contributions from other Blues fans. The scoreboard, supplied by Betta-LED, will offer various advertising opportunities. For more details, fans can contact Chester FC general manager Albert Davies at albert.davies@chesterfc.com.
