Southampton are looking to offload Paul Onuachu following a productive loan spell with Turkish side Trabzonspor
Paul Onuachu, a star for Southampton who guided his team back into the Premier League at the first attempt, is expected to leave St Mary’s permanently when the transfer window reopens because he does not fit into manager Russell Martin’s plans, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.
In the Championship play-off final last weekend, Saints defeated Leeds United 1-0 thanks to a goal from Adam Armstrong. The victory under the Wembley arch has provided the south coast team with much-needed cash, as it is expected to bring in up to £140 million over the next three seasons.
A few months after players like Romeo Lavia, James Ward-Prowse, and Tino Livramento left Southampton following their relegation, the team made a significant profit thanks to their departures, taking them back to the top flight. Martin has been talking summer plans with director of football Rasmus Ankersen.
Onuachu is getting ready to leave the Saints permanently.
Martin will talk about the 6-foot-7 striker’s future with him.
According to GMS sources, Onuachu’s time at Southampton is running out as he is expected to officially leave when the transfer window reopens. His impressive play on loan at Trabzonspor in Turkey did not convince Martin to give him a higher priority in the team.
After it was decided that he would spend the season away from Saints’ pursuit of an immediate return to the Premier League, the striker scored 17 goals in 25 games for the Super Lig club and added four assists. He also demonstrated that he was a constant threat.
Onuachu is expected to have internal talks about his future upon his return from Trabzonspor, according to GMS sources. However, there is a sense that Martin is ready to cash in, since it will be hard for him to surpass players like Armstrong in the hierarchy.

When Southampton paid £18 million to entice the 6-foot-7 Nigerian international from Genk during Nathan Jones’ brief tenure nearly eighteen months ago, he was unable to prevent his new employers from relegating him to the Championship as he struggled to regain the form he had demonstrated in Belgium.
