EXCLUSIVE :A Wrexham guy reveals the six-figure payment used to sign a West Brom starlet for this summer.

Mo Faal was signed by Wrexham for £590,000 from West Brom, according to winger James McClean on The Fozcast Live.

As Wrexham was ready to make the move to League One, they enjoyed another busy summer transfer window.

Now, the Red Dragons are more in line with the star power that has been a part of their team for the previous two years. They have had an incredible start to the season thanks to it, picking up 16 points from seven games and only losing to high-rolling Birmingham City.

It was hardly a shrewd window in North Wales either. Deals for the likes of Ollie Rathbone, Dan Scarr, Lewis Brunt and more all will have required fees as they were under contract with other clubs

Mo Faal, who Wrexham signed from West Brom, is in the similar boat. The amount that was spent to bring him in has now come to light. Red Dragons star James McClean stated on The Fozcast Live that the Gambian superstar cost £590,000. This information is according to the Fearless in Devotion podcast.

Back in Wrexham, McClean made an appearance as a guest on former ‘keeper Ben Foster’s live podcast. Although stated to be a “club record” charge, the record’s exact amount is still unknown. It was reported earlier this summer that the midfielder Rathbone deal had won the contract, surpassing the £300,000 paid for Ollie Palmer. However, it is unclear if this amount exceeds the £590,000 spent on Faal.

Remarkably, Wrexham spent almost £600,000 on a single player—record transfer or not. In the upcoming years, they will be hopeful that Faal can demonstrate his value. Although he is only 21 years old, he is undoubtedly a potential for the future, and it may be difficult for him to crack the starting lineup now.

Paul Mullin is fit again after a spell out and will be battling with the in-form Jack Marriott for a starting berth. Ollie Palmer has been a mainstay at this early stage of the season while Steven Fletcher is another solid option.
