With just one day to go until the transfer window slams shut, Aston Villa are apparently preparing to end their summer as it started by seeking an outstanding reinforcement. Aston Villa transfer
Aston Villa transfer news
Unquestionably, the Villans were among the winners of the summer transfer window, bringing in players like Amadou Onana and Ian Maatsen to soften the sting of Douglas Luiz’s move to Juventus. The Midlanders have assembled a team under Unai Emery that could potentially be the source of some stunning upsets going into their maiden season in the current Champions League.
Now that the busy window is coming to an end, Villa might not be done adding players, particularly in the attacking department.
If Jhon Duran leaves before the transfer window ends, Aston Villa is allegedly planning a last-minute coup to acquire Tammy Abraham from AS Roma, according to Football Insider. The forward is apparently close to moving to AC Milan, although he would want to return to Villa Park, where he spent the 2018–19 season on loan.
Villa isn’t the only team interested in the England international; West Ham United has apparently been in talks with Roma for a move all summer, but they haven’t been able to get him yet. Abraham will definitely be someone to watch when the window closes.
Incredible” Abraham would complete Aston Villa attack
If Abraham were to sign, Emery’s front line would be complete—as if Ollie Watkins weren’t a dangerous enough option already—especially if Duran isn’t available. The Roma forward has proven himself in the Premier League and at Villa Park, so his return this summer makes perfect sense on paper.
Abraham set out for a starting position at Chelsea during a brilliant season at Villa Park, where he received high marks from Chelsea’s manager at the time, Frank Lampard.
Lampard once stated to Sky Sports, “His work ethic in the background is what keeps him in such fantastic shape. Not only is he a tremendous threat to opponents because he can run them, hold the ball up, handle it, and have excellent feet, but he also scores goals, which is fantastic for him. At the beginning of the season, I had faith in Tammy. I thought it was time for him to return to Chelsea.”
Of course, Milan’s pursuit of Abraham’s signature makes any deal that much more difficult to chase, but Villa would be wise to at least attempt a headline-stealing hijack for the forward this week.
