Exclusive: Barnsley to assess duo ahead of weekend clash

Barnsley will evaluate the fitness of Fabio Jalo and Donovan Pines ahead of their upcoming match against Stockport County, as reported by the *Barnsley Chronicle*.

Pines, the 26-year-old center-back, has been sidelined since suffering a head injury during the game against Stevenage earlier this month and has since followed concussion protocols. However, he may be ready to return for this weekend’s fixture. Jalo, who sustained a shoulder injury in last weekend’s 2-1 victory over Burton Albion, could also be available without missing any matches.

Barnsley, currently third in League One, face a strong Stockport side on Saturday. Stockport, sitting 7th, were league leaders at one point but have gone winless in their last three games. Despite Barnsley’s impressive form, they have conceded ten goals this season, making the potential return of both players crucial.

Pines, in particular, could offer the defensive solidity Barnsley needs, given their occasional defensive lapses. Meanwhile, Jalo’s attacking presence would provide manager Darrell Clarke with more options going forward. While both returns would be beneficial, Pines’ experience could be more critical as Barnsley aims to close the gap on Wrexham and Birmingham City, who currently lead the division. Jalo may be less pivotal for this match but could still be a useful option from the bench if deemed fit.
