Celtic transfer plans for the 2024-25 campaign will not be affected by Scotland losing their automatic Champions League league phase place but for their long-term business it is a “huge” blow, sources have told Football Insider.

However, it is believed plans for next summer (2025) will be transformed with the Hoops set to wait to discover their qualification fate before completing any big-money business.

Scotland have dropped out of the Uefa’s top ten coefficient rankings following poor performance in Europe in recent seasons.

As a result, the Scottish Premiership winners will lose out on automatic qualification for the Champions League league phase from the 2025-26 campaign.

If Celtic win the title next term, they will face a play-off to qualify.

Football Insider revealed on 9 April that Celtic are desperate to add a centre-back and new first-choice goalkeeper in the off-season.

It is believed a partner for star man Cameron Carter-Vickers and a replacement for retiring goalkeeper Joe Hart will be the priorities for Rodgers and his recruitment staff.

This season, Celtic were dumped out of the Champions League at the group stage after picking up just four points from six games.
