Daniel Kelly and Marco Vata have received enhanced four-year contracts at Celtic.
Although negotiations with both players have been ongoing for some time, the Hoops have finally made their highest-scoring bids in an attempt to retain the highly-regarded duo at Parkhead. Vata, an under-21 international for the Republic of Ireland, will be free agency come next month, and Kelly, whose contract expires at the beginning of the year, may begin pre-contract negotiations with teams in July.
Under Brendan Rodgers, both have played in the first team this season. The coach is eager to sign both of his academy graduates to long-term contracts. Numerous English and Italian teams have also approached Vata to hold open discussions. The 19-year-old would only cost Celtic about £300,000 in training compensation, but they would much rather keep the player because they believe they can develop him over time.
