Exclusive: Chelsea dispatched scouts out to witness £80 million attacker in major match; he smashed a 72-year record this season

Man United transfer news: Set for disappointment in striker pursuit

Chelsea scouts flew out to see a 26-goal striker in person on Monday as they prepare to upgrade Mauricio Pochettino’s team this summer.

Chelsea’s FA Cup loss highlighted their lack of quality in the final third without Cole Palmer.

Cole Palmer has been mostly responsible for Chelsea’s goal-scoring this season, as Christopher Nkunku has been injured.

And, while the Frenchman’s return might help next season, Chelsea would do well to address the issue in the transfer market.

That being said, TBR Football understands Chelsea is doing just that, and scouts were there at the Milan derby on Monday.

As Inter Milan won the Serie A title with a 2-1 victory over their rivals at the San Siro, Chelsea was scouting several players.

Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez and Federico Dimarco, as well as AC Milan custodian Mike Maignan, were all scrutinised.

Martinez, an Argentine striker, has yet to sign a new deal with the team he captained, despite continued talks dating back to last year.

Chelsea had scouts in Milan. Derby to watch 26-goal attacker Lautaro Martinez ahead of the summer.

According to TBR sources, Napoli’s top pick is Victor Osimhen. However, Paris Saint-Germain may also be interested in a deal.

Left wing-back. Federico Dimarco did sign a new contract with Inter late last year, but Chelsea still admires the Italian international.

Mike Maignan, the club’s long-term custodian, has only two years remaining on his contract.

TBR sources think that the Blues are looking for a new number one this summer, as the club’s administration believes they need to improve their goalkeeping alternatives.

Of course, any of the above-mentioned signings would likely be welcomed by Chelsea fans.

Lautaro Martinez surpassed the 72-year record at Inter Milan this season.

Chelsea requires a striker to complement Nicolas Jackson, who is struggling to produce consistent results.

Lautaro Martinez, coming off another spectacular season with Inter, could be the ideal candidate.

The £80 million striker recently broke a 72-year record by netting 20 goals in three straight Serie A seasons for the club, a stunning achievement.

Chelsea can only dream of such consistency and goal scoring from one of their strikers right now, but that may change shortly.

Ally McCoist compared a Chelsea player to Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez.
