Exclusive: Ex-Preston North End manager’s links to Blackpool job shot down despite early favourite status

Former Preston North End manager Ryan Lowe is not being considered for the Blackpool position.

According to The Gazette, there’s been no truth to the speculation that Blackpool might hire Lowe. The 45-year-old departed from Deepdale last Monday, just one game into the 2024/25 season, after spending two and a half years with Preston.

On Tuesday morning, it was announced that Neil Critchley had left Blackpool following back-to-back defeats in their first League One matches of the season. Critchley’s second stint at Bloomfield Road lasted 15 months, with Blackpool finishing 8th last season.

Following this news, Lowe quickly became the bookmakers’ favorite for the job. However, it has been revealed that Blackpool is not considering him for the role. Instead, assistant coach Richard Keogh will take on interim management of the team.
