Exclusive: Josh Bowler names the Preston North End star and fellow……

Preston North End secured Josh Bowler from Nottingham Forest on transfer deadline day.

Bowler, 25, joined PNE on a season-long loan, with the potential for a permanent transfer next summer if the club exercises their option-to-buy. Bowler has hinted at wanting to make the move permanent, though it’s still early days. For now, he’s excited and optimistic about the 2024/25 season, with a positive first impression of the squad—especially one player he’s thrilled to team up with.

When asked which teammate he’s most excited about, Bowler said, “There’s a lot, but obviously Brad Potts stands out. He’s been on the same journey as me, and now he’ll be on my side. We’ve talked about our experiences, which we have in common. I’m looking forward to playing with him.”

“Every time I’ve faced him, he’s been relentless up and down the right—like a horse who doesn’t stop. He’s strong, a real threat, and I’ve always thought he’d be great to play alongside. He helps defensively and takes pressure off you by drawing defenders with his runs, so yeah, I’m definitely excited to play with him.”

Regarding his position on the team, Bowler, wearing number 40, isn’t too concerned about playing in a fixed role. He’s happy that manager Paul Heckingbottom has given him the freedom to express himself on the pitch, and he’s eager to repay that trust.

“Right wing is my main position, but I love playing centrally and can also switch to the left. Modern wingers have more fluidity and freedom, like the gaffer has said. I can start on the right but drift inside to create chances. Wherever the manager needs me, I’ll be ready. The key is the freedom he’s emphasising.”

“I always say scoring goals—especially the kind I like to score—is the hardest part of football. It doesn’t always come off, but I’ll never stop trying. I’m an exciting, confident player, and when my confidence is high, like it is now, I feel ready to deliver those moments again.”
