Southampton are reportedly in discussions to sign a player they are “in love with,” though negotiations are proving difficult as the player’s current club is reluctant to let him go.

Southampton’s top target this summer is Fabio Carvalho, with manager Russell Martin eager to bring him to St Mary’s before the new Premier League season begins. A fresh bid of around £20 million has been made for the 21-year-old, but Liverpool seem intent on keeping the attacking midfielder for now.

Another potential target for Southampton is Youssoufa Moukoko, an exciting young talent from Borussia Dortmund. Despite being under 20 years old, Moukoko has already made 99 appearances and scored 18 goals for the Bundesliga club, making him a highly impressive prospect.

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is being considered as a striking option for Southampton, with the England international seeking a move away from the Gunners this summer. With David Raya now the clear first-choice at Arsenal, Ramsdale’s desire for regular playing time makes a move sensible, and securing him would be a significant achievement for Saints.

Southampton are also pursuing Celtic star Matt O’Riley, who is attracting interest from several clubs this transfer window. Brighton is among the competitors, but neither club has made significant progress in signing the Danish midfielder.

Additionally, Southampton are reportedly in talks with KAA Gent winger Matias Fernandez-Pardo, aiming to lower the average age of their squad this summer. Although Fernandez-Pardo may not be widely known, his potential is evident. The 19-year-old has already contributed 11 goals (nine goals and two assists) in 24 appearances for Gent, proving himself at the senior level.

Fernandez-Pardo has represented Belgium at various youth levels, including the Under-19s, where he has scored three goals in 10 caps. Primarily a left winger, he can also play as a second striker, making him a versatile option for manager Russell Martin and a promising long-term investment for the club.
