On July 17, Chris Jack wrote for Rangers Review that the manager was “clearly irked” by the issue, which led to adjustments being anticipated behind the scenes this summer.
In an interview with Rangers Review on July 15, the Belgian player admitted that it had indeed happened. However, he declined to provide specifics out of consideration for the medical professionals who had previously worked at the club.
Ferguson says it is “disturbing” that a team the size of Rangers was reportedly so behind the times in terms of player fitness and that he was “shocked” to see how upset Clement had been upon taking over from Michael Beale.
He exclusively told Ibrox News, stressing the need of making changes: “Yeah, huge time. Over the past few seasons, there has been an issue with it.When the manager succeeded Michael Beale, it was evident that he was quite dissatisfied with the players’ level of fitness, which actually startled me at the time.
When you consider the facilities, sports science, and other aspects of modern clubs, it is unsettling to see that the players’ level of fitness is lacking.
However, we appear to have a lot of guys who have had injuries throughout their careers, which is terrible and something we detest to see, but I believe Philippe Clement is really interested in that and looks into everything.
“I think you’ll notice a big difference in that department, so he’ll want to bring the best people to the club, whether that’s doctors, sports scientists, or physios.”
Following Michael Beale’s departure from the Rangers, Philippe Clement is not impressed.
