Fulham travels to Luton Town on Sunday; although the necessary combinations are extremely doubtful, the team can yet survive in the Premier League.

Marco Silva chats with Rob Edwards

“And it just shows how far they’ve come, to be able to fight. And because of that, I see the fans are proud of the team.

“You can feel it every single time they play away, or at home as well, and it just shows the work, from Rob first of all, and the belief and the trust and the quality, of course, and the commitment from their football players.

“Of course it’s going to be a really tough game for us, because I know the way they want to finish the season on a high.

“Mathematically, they are not down yet. Even if it’s really difficult and they have a one per cent chance, they are going to fight with their maximum for it, I’m 100 per cent sure.

Marco Silva gives a thumbs up to the crowd

“But it just reflects the work from Rob and his players, and it shows, in my opinion, how they’ve come really far, to be really able to fight against any team at home and away in the Premier League.”

Good news arrived on Friday when Marco Silva declared that the decision to keep Kenny Tete in SW6 until 2025 had been made.

He responded, “Of course we are pleased.” “Compared to last season, this one wasn’t the best for him, and a lot of people talk about the competition Timothy Castagne is having for the position—he made a great effect on our football team and is having an incredible season.

Kenny Tete delivers a cross

“We are stronger with Timothy and Kenny, no doubt about it, and it helps me that we have two excellent options to choose from in that position. If we also play in a different system, we can even play with both. However, we are rather happy.

“Even though it wasn’t the best season, we know Kenny well and his abilities, and my goal is for him to perform at the same level as he did the previous year.”

“He was one of our finest players last season; without a doubt, it was his best Premier League season, and we know what he is capable of when healthy.

We chose this course of action because we believe he can replicate the same kind of season, and we couldn’t be happier about it.
