Southampton are interested in a move for Villarreal attacker Ben Brereton Diaz this summer, according to a report by The Sun.
During the next several months, Southampton may make a move for the forward as they get ready to return to the Premier League. Together with Leicester City and Suffolk Town, they were promoted back to the top division at the first attempt after defeating Leeds United 1-0 in the Championship play-off final.
After spending the second part of the previous season on loan at Sheffield United, Brereton-Diaz, 25, is scheduled to return to Villarreal for preseason play, although it remains unclear whether he will stay in Spain. Despite playing 16 games for the Blades and scoring six goals, he was unable to keep them from being relegated back to the Football League.
He has reportedly come to the Saints’ attention as they consider their transfer options for the next window, according to The Sun.
