Sam Gallagher is still being evaluated by the medical staff, thus it is anticipated that he will miss Stoke City’s return to play this weekend.

Following his recovery from a calf injury sustained during the preseason, the 29-year-old attacker has rapidly demonstrated his impact alongside Tom Cannon. However, he hobbled out of action late in a 0-0 draw with Swansea before the international break because of a hamstring issue, and scans won’t be able to provide a comprehensive image until next week, following a Championship match against Norwich on Saturday at 3pm.

But just as Ben Pearson was ready to increase his workouts after his recuperation from hamstring surgery, he had a setback. The 29-year-old midfielder hasn’t played since a March home match against Norwich, and there is no chance that he will make a comeback in October or November.

In the days running up to a home doubleheader against Norwich and Bristol City (Tuesday, 7.45pm), Stoke head coach Narcis Pelach is now hopeful that all of his international players return from service without suffering any injuries.
