Exclusive: ‘The Caitlin Clark Effect’ Pulls In Incredibly Historic Television Ratings While Up Against NFL Sunday Slate

Despite going head-to-head with a full slate of NFL games, Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark’s postseason debut achieved historic television ratings.

Game 1 of the first-round series between the Fever and the Connecticut Sun, aired on ABC, attracted 1.84 million viewers. This figure marks the largest audience for the WNBA Playoffs since Game 2 of the 2000 WNBA Finals, which drew 2.12 million viewers. Additionally, this game also set a record for the highest ratings for a non-Finals matchup since Game 2 of the 1999 Western Conference Finals, which had 2.62 million viewers.

Clark’s debut is now recognized as the most-watched WNBA game ever broadcast on an NFL Sunday, surpassing Game 2 of the 2003 WNBA Finals between the Sparks and Tulsa Shock, which recorded 1.28 million viewers.

And this is why Caitlin Clark is piling up haters in the WNBA … because they can’t do this.
