Exclusive: Verstappen responds to McLaren ‘toxic’ Red Bull claim……

In spite of his statement that he is not “wasting time” on the almost frequent rumours and conjecture in the Formula One paddock, Max Verstappen has stated that competing teams should “focus on themselves”.

Red Bull’s Formula One opponents, who frequently become the topic of rumours and gossip in the paddock, have received a plea from Max Verstappen to “focus on themselves”.

CEO of McLaren Racing Zak Brown has been a particularly outspoken critic of the current constructors’ champions, publicly portraying his team as practically the opposite of Red Bull.

Over the course of the 2024 season, he has been vocal about a number of concerns involving the Christian Horner-led squad, criticising, among other things, what he sees as a “pretty toxic” climate and a lack of honesty.

The 52-year-old has seized the moment to provoke Red Bull on a variety of subjects, from employees applying for McLaren positions to the team’s general stability.

Verstappen asserts that everyone must abide by the regulation, not just Brown, and believes that other teams and drivers should be given less consideration.

In response to some of the American’s comments, Verstappen told Motorsport.com, “People that say all sorts of stuff should just focus on their own team.”

By the way, that’s not directed just at Zak Brown; it applies to everyone. All people need to do is concentrate on themselves, and I do the same.”

‘I’m not going to waste energy on that’

Red Bull’s decline in relative pace, especially in comparison to McLaren, has been one of the season’s major storylines and narratives, despite the fact that much of the criticism and conjecture has focused on off-track problems.

With 2024 off to the same strong start that it finished the previous year, another commanding romp to both championships was anticipated.

But it hasn’t actually occurred. With six rounds left, Verstappen leads Lando Norris by 52 points in the battle for the drivers’ championship, while Red Bull has lost ground in the constructors’ standings. With 41 points to spare, McLaren appears certain to win its first title since 1998.

Whether accurate or not, a lot of people have blamed Red Bull’s problems on the FIA’s summertime asymmetric braking prohibition.

While addressing a gap in the 2026 regulations, the regulatory body also applied the provision backwards to the current requirements. Verstappen and Red Bull have consistently disputed that the RB20 was equipped with a device of that kind.

The Dutchman maintains that people are free to “think what they want” about such topics, despite the controversy the issue caused. He says he does not give rumours and hearsay much weight or significance.

The 27-year-old ruminated, “People always come up with different stuff,” regarding the subject. “How they come up with some of these ideas is very strange, but that’s just the way it is. I usually just brush it off because it’s part of the game.

“After ten years in Formula One, I’m not spending my time on all those stories. Really, I don’t read much about Formula One anyhow.

Of course, from time to time I notice something or hear from someone else saying, “Did you see what this person said?'” However, I always claim that I won’t waste my time on what other people think. I thus don’t give a damn about what other people think.”
