Former Portsmouth skipper a transfer target for host of EFL clubs – including Bristol Rovers and Stockport County
Clark Robertson spent his final season with Pompey, making 29 appearances for the team.
Several EFL teams are vying for the signature of former Pompey captain Clark Robertson this summer.
The defender, whose current one-year contract with Port City expires, appears to be headed back to the UK after helping FC Ashdod retain their Israeli Premier League status.
The Daily Record claims that Bristol Rovers, Stockport County, and MK Dons are vying for the 30-year-old’s services during the upcoming transfer window, so it looks like he won’t be short of offers.
Robertson, who left Israel in October and then came back to finish the 2023–24 season, is rumoured to be considering the offers that were made to him before making a decision about his future.
After learning that his contract at Fratton Park would not be renewed, the former centre defender for Rotherham and Blackpool moved abroad in the summer of last year. After being signed by Danny Cowley on a free transfer, Robertson played with PO4 for two seasons, totaling 57 games. In both seasons, he led the Blues as captain, and Pompey finished League One in 10th and eighth place.
Robertson was one of eight players released by the Blues in the summer of 2023 as head coach John Mousinho and sports director Richard Hughes worked to assemble a team capable of winning a championship run.
MK Dons will still play in League Two, but Bristol Rovers and Stockport County will also be in League One next season. Robertson will rejoin with old Fratton Park teammate Jay Mingi if he chooses to transfer to Stockport, who won the League Two title this season. Mingi and the Edgeley Park side agreed to a three-year contract over the weekend. He will now formally depart from Colchester United on June 14 when the transfer market opens.
