Hellas Verona defender Jackson Tchatchoua has set his sights on a move to Everton, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. The Italian newspaper has reported in its print edition (13 July, page 22) that Verona is “a bit like an airport” with so many arrivals and departures, and Tchatchoua is one player who wants to move to Goodison Park. The Cameroon international is said to be valued at £6.7million by the Italian side.
//Jackson Tchatchoua transfer lined up at Everton Right-backs are at a premium for Sean Dyche going into the new season, with question marks hanging over almost every option he has in the position at the time of writing.
Ben Godfrey has already sealed a £11million switch of his own to Atalanta, while Mason Holgate hasn’t played for the club in over a year following two separate loan moves away from Merseyside last season [Gianluca Di Marzio, 27 June].
Ashley Young and Seamus Coleman proved reliable when called upon last season, but aged 38 and 35 respectively, are unlikely to be able to play week-in, week-out for 90 minutes up and down the flanks [Daily Mail 7 June]. Nathan Patterson remains the Toffees’ clearest current option on the right-hand side, but an injury picked up towards the end of the campaign ruled him out of Euro 2024 and his return date is unclear.
That leaves the right-back spot primed and open for a player of Tchatchoua’s quality to slot in, and with Amadou Onana on the verge of a £50million move to Aston Villa, the Blues will have the financial means to pay the fee required.
