The Royals urgently need to address several positions during the summer transfer window, as they have yet to make a single signing due to their ongoing ownership issues.
However, with a potential takeover on the horizon at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, they may soon have the opportunity to strengthen the areas they need to.
The left-back position requires attention, as does the center-back role, especially after the departures of Nelson Abbey, Tom Holmes, Tom McIntyre, and Zane Monlouis earlier this year, which have left them short on options.
They might also be looking to add another attacking midfielder to compete for a spot, especially with Harvey Knibbs currently sidelined.
However, strengthening the wings and striker positions could be a higher priority for Ruben Selles’ team, as the Berkshire side needs more quality in the final third.
Even if a takeover is announced soon, the club will have very little time to finalize deals before the transfer window closes on August 30th.
Adding to the challenge is the transfer embargo, which limits the Royals to signing free agents and players on loan.
Many of their free agent targets have likely already been signed by other clubs, but they might still benefit from boosting their squad’s quality through the loan market.Even though they’ve secured four points out of six against Birmingham City and Wigan Athletic this season, the Royals clearly need more squad depth.According to Football Scotland, the Bhoys’ young defender, Anderson, is currently on Selles’ side’s radar.
Anderson is a 20-year-old left-back who has yet to make his debut for his club’s senior team but has played for their B team and spent last season on loan at Admira Wacker, a club in Austria’s second division.

As an academy graduate, he’s become a fan favorite at the SCL Stadium, even if he doesn’t always get the spotlight. The supporters clearly value his contributions.
Garcia had a strong start to the season, but it’s evident that the team could use another left-back before the transfer window closes.
Anderson, with his ability to contribute offensively, could be a smart signing for Berkshire if he joins the squad. However, a takeover needs to happen first.
