The referee of yesterday’s Rewa-Ba match in the Digicel Fiji Premier League may face consequences, according to the Fiji Football Association.
A few problems arose during the game, chief among them the delay in bringing a stretcher onto the field following an injury sustained by Ba player Sailasa Ratu.
Football regulations require that match officials, under the direction of the referee, inspect this.
According to Mohammed Yusuf, the chief executive of the Fiji FA, referee Deepak Raj overlooked the existence of a stretcher at the location prior to kickoff.
According to the reports, the stretcher was kept in a car in the outside parking lot.
According to Yusuf, this might have been prevented and the stretcher ought to have been placed inside the arena.
He adds the decision of what to do next has been left to the referees committee.
Rewa had supplied medical professionals on the ground, according to Fiji FA.
Many requests have also been made for the referees’ body to look into the events of yesterday, especially Ratu’s foul.
Rewa also complained about fouls committed by its players, citing, among other things, a rough challenge on young Delon Shankar that they believe the referee missed.
According to Yusuf, concerns have been brought up, and they will provide a response after they have seen the assessor’s findings.
