At the Digicel Pacific Fiji FACT over the weekend, 108 players were tested for drugs; five of them tested positive. Three of the five are from the senior division and the premier.
Mohammed Yusuf, the chief executive of the Fiji Football Association, gave FBC Sports confirmation of this. According to Yusuf, in order to decide the proper charges for the positive tests, they are currently looking into the players’ past wrongdoing.
We are currently confirming whether they are first-time or repeat offenders, as there are many offenses, and this week we will be sending suspension letters. They will also be required to appear before the disciplinary committee.
The Fiji FA spent more than $6,000 on drug testing during the games to guarantee a clean competition. On Saturday, the semi-finals will take place at Subrail Park in Labasa. In the opening semi-final, Extra Labasa takes against Flick Hygiene Lautoka at 2:00 pm.
At 4.30 p.m., Navua will play 4R Electrical Ba in the second semi-final. The championship game starts on Sunday at 1pm. The LIVE commentary is available on Mirchi FM.
