A football fan who dislocated his shoulder during a winning goal said he would do it all again if it meant his team won the league.

Rémi Mills, 20, attended Ipswich Town’s game against Southampton on Monday.

In the 97th minute, Jeremy Sarmiento clinched victory for Town, causing fans to erupt in celebration.

However, Mr Mills celebrated so hard his shoulder “popped out”.

“After all that excitement and when that last-minute goal went in, limbs were everywhere,” he explained.

“Unfortunately I missed Conor [Chaplin] running across the length of the pitch because as soon as I burst up with all that excitement, my shoulder just came out straight away.

“But I still managed to stay and take in some of the celebrations as much as I could.”

Once the excitement had died down, Mr Mills saw paramedics at the Portman Road ground before being taken to Ipswich Hospital.

“I think the two hours I spent in the hospital, I was just trying to take in that last goal – [I had] goosebumps,” he continued.

“I was almost in tears, not tears because of the pain but tears because I can’t believe how far this club has come.”

Mr Mills said the results had “brought back such a feel-good factor” around Ipswich.

“You see all these things happening to [other] clubs and you think it’s never going to be our turn, but it is finally our turn,” he added.

“If I could do it all again and it meant we won again, I would dislocate the other.”

The fan joked he expected his shoulder to “pop out again” if the club won the league.

Looking ahead to the game against Norwich on 6 April, he added he would be holding his breath until the final whistle.
