Former Hibs and Celtic boss jets into foreign country to complete shock return to management

The former Hibs and Celtic manager is about to return to management in Romania after travelling there to finalise a deal.

The former midfield player most recently served as manager of Omonia Nicosia, a Cypriot club. His tenure as a Scottish football manager ended in 2021 when his attempt to lead Celtic to a tenth Premiership title in a row failed. He had previously managed the Hoops and Hibs.

During his tenure at Easter Road, which spanned from 2016 to 2019, he helped the team qualify for the Europa League, finish fourth in the 17/18 season, and deliver promotion from the Championship to the top flight. Images from social media now appear to show him arriving in Romania before assuming management of Rapid Bucharest.

Lennon was mentioned as a potential candidate to take over as Hibs manager once more in bookmakers’ odds, but it appears he will take on a second challenge overseas. Dan Sucu, the majority shareholder, stated on Sunday night that talks with the incoming CEO went well.

“I haven’t left the stadium so quietly in about two months,” he said to GSP. We are aware that he is expected to sign the deal tomorrow, and I hope you will be happy that there will be a press conference on Tuesday.

Bogdan Lobonţ will undoubtedly remain a member of the club, and we appreciate all that he has accomplished. I cannot claim that Neil Lennon’s discussions were difficult in the slightest; he never made any really difficult agreements.

“The assistance and investment we are making in the club to strengthen it is all that he negotiated. The quantity he would gather never really intrigued him. He was far more intrigued to see that we were committed to making investments in the club to strengthen it for the upcoming season.
