21-year-old has impressed in training sessions with Michael Flynn’s Robins and has now been rewarded with a contract

Ethon Archer, an offensive midfielder, is Cheltenham Town’s seventh summer acquisition.

The 21-year-old left Three Bridges of the Isthmian League South East Division to join Torquay United of the National League South last season.

He now takes his career-long ascent a step further and joins the League Two Robins.

“I am truly appreciative of the chance I have been given to be here at Cheltenham, and I can’t wait to give it everything I have to help this club succeed,” Archer remarked.

“I’m excited to work with the gaffer (Michael Flynn) and Gary (Johnson) and Downsey (Aaron Downes) once more.”

“I had a great time playing football for Torquay, and I am aware of their high level of player confidence.”

“Being my first season in the EFL, I can’t wait to get going and really challenge myself.”

“Ethon for me can play anywhere across that front line and he can provide some good width out wide as well,” Flynn remarked of his newest addition.

“He showed promise during the preseason, and I believe he’s a player we can develop and work with, which aligns with the club’s philosophy.” He’s going to present a serious challenge to any players he faces.

Archer will participate in Friday night’s inaugural friendly at Bishop’s Cleeve after making an impression in preseason training sessions with the team under new manager Flynn.

Along with a number of trialists and academy players, Flynn will be bringing his whole first team roster to Kayte Lane.

The only players who won’t be playing are Matty Taylor and Aidan Keena, both forwards.

While Taylor was sidelined at the end of the previous season due to a hamstring injury and will not be risked on a synthetic playing surface, Keena has not yet returned to full contact training following shoulder surgery.Cheltenham Town’s summer signings so far:
