Kevin Nolan, a former Wanderers midfielder, has departed West Ham following a four-year tenure with the Premier League team.

During his playing career, Nolan led the Hammers to promotion from the Championship. He rejoined the team in 2020 as a member of David Moyes’ backroom team.

The 41-year-old was a major contributor to the Europa Conference League victory last season and has emerged as a significant character on the touchline in recent years.

West Ham announced earlier this month that Moyes will be leaving his position in the wake of rumours that Julen Lopetegui will take over as manager at the London Stadium.

Nolan is among the eight employees departing, which the revealed in a statement on Wednesday. The other departing employees are Billy McKinlay, John Heitinga, Harry Newman, Rob Newman, Alan Irvine, Nick Davies, and Jamie Osman.

“All four supported David Moyes during his tenure as manager, helping the team to three top-nine Premier League finishes, advanced to the final stages of three UEFA competitions, and win the 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League,” the statement said.

“In February 2020, former midfielder Nolan, who led the Hammers to promotion at Wembley in 2012, was brought into Moyes’ backroom staff.

As the Hammers had four successful seasons, the 41-year-old was a noticeable presence on the touchline and a vital link between the manager and the dressing room.

“The club wishes each and every one of Billy, Kevin, John, Henry, Rob, Alan, Nick, and Jamie the very best in the future for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to West Ham United.”

This season, West Ham was eight points behind Manchester United in eighth place in the Premier League after finishing ninth.

On the last day of the season, Manchester City secured their fourth consecutive title, finishing two points ahead of Arsenal, despite a 3-1 defeat of the Hammers at the Etihad.
